How to set up your Hotel’s Google My Business Account?
Location plays a major role when it comes to searching for a hotel. Therefore, hotels need to work on local SEO to get viewed among travelers. One of such great tools that helps hoteliers to improve their local SEO is Google My Business.
Google My Business, shortly known as GMB, is a free tool that lets hoteliers manage their business and connect with their audiences across Google, including Search and Maps.
The quick steps that let you get started with GMB.
Step 1: Open Google My Business Page.
Step 2: Click on the ‘Manage Now’ option.
Note: If you don’t have a Gmail account, then create one.
Step 3: Sign in to your Gmail account that you want to associate with your hotel business.
Step 4: Enter your hotel name, and click the ‘Next’ option.
Step 5: Enter your hotel address, and click the ‘Next’ option.
Step 6: Under ‘Business Category’, select the appropriate business category, and click ‘Next’.
Note: The more appropriate your business category is, the easier it is for guests to find you.
Step 7: Enter your hotel’s website URL or Phone number, and click ‘Next’.
Verify your Business on Google
Note: If you don’t want to verify your business listing, then you can select ‘Try a different method’-> ‘Later’.
Google provides several ways to verify your GMB account. They are,
- Instant Verification
- Bulk Verification
All of these verification options will be enabled or disabled regarding your business type.
Step 8: Click ‘Continue’ to verify your connection to the hotel. (You can select your preferred verification option- By Postcard, Phone, Email, Instant or Bulk verification).
Step 9: To verify your local business listing, click on the ‘Verify Now’ option.
Step 1: Double-check to know whether the provided business address is correct or not. Even, you can add a contact name.
Step 2: Click ‘Mail’.
Note: It will take almost 1-2 weeks to receive the postcard. Also, don’t edit your business address and other details. It will delay the process.
Step 3: Once you received the postcard, then log into your Google My Business account.
Note: If you have multiple business locations, then click on the specific location for which you want to verify. Or, simply click on the ‘Verify now’ option.
Step 4: Enter the code you received Via postcard in the ‘Code field’.
Note: In case you missed your postcard or your postcard hasn’t shown up, you can request a new code by clicking on the ‘Request another code’ option.
Step 1: Sign in to your GMB account.
Step 2: Choose the business type you want to verify.
Step 3: Click on the ‘Verify Now’ option.
Step 4: Make sure you have given the right number and click on the ‘Verify by phone’ option.
Step 5: You will get a verification code via SMS. Enter the received code in the ‘Code field.’
Step 1: Make sure that the given email ID is right. Click the ‘Verify by email’ option.
Step 2: Check your inbox, open the mail from GMB, and click the verification link/button in the email.
Instant verification may be applicable for businesses who have already verified their business with Google Search Console.
Step 2: Sign in to your GMB account using the email ID which you used to verify your business in Google Search Console.
Note: Google doesn’t provide this verification option for a few businesses. If you did not get a verification link, then try verifying your business using different methods.
This verification mode will be applicable for businesses with more than 10 locations.
Step 1: Sign in to your GMB account and select a location.
Step 2: Click the‘ Get Verified’ option.
Step 3: Click the‘ Chain’ option.
Step 4: Fill the verification form.
Step 5: Click on the ‘Submit’ option. It will take more than a week for Google to audit and verify your businesses.
Once your account is verified, you’re ready to update your business information.

To optimize your hotel GMB listing, sign in to your Google My Business account. In the dashboard, you’ll get a complete summary of your hotel amenities. The dashboard also lets you edit the amenities of your hotel.
Under the ‘Hotel Attributes’ Section, you can edit your hotel services and amenities.
Step 1: Select the location for which you want to edit.
Step 2: Click ‘Info’
Step 3: Click the ‘Edit’ option, which is located next to ‘Hotel Attributes’.
Step 4: Search for the attributes you like to add and fill in the form.
Step 5: Click on the ‘Save’ option.
To add your hotel’s Check-in and Check-out time,
Step 1: Sign in to your GMB account.
Step 2: Under the ‘Hotel Attributes’ Section, click on the ‘Policies & Payments’.
Step 3: Using the drop-down, you can change your hotel’s check-in & check-out time.
Remember, as a hotelier, you can manage your hotel information and make quick changes at any given time.
Firstly, sign in to your GMB account. Select the ‘Info’ option on the dashboard. Under the info option, you can see various options like photos, websites, users, new locations, and much more. Select the option in which you want to make changes. Click on the ‘Apply’ option after the desired changes have been made.
